About Riftvalley Ruffians

We are a franchise that focuses on developing rugby league with the Rift valley region in Kenya. Our investment is aimed at supporting all levels of the game and would not be possible without the support of several key corporate Game Development partners.

These partners provide a vital link to the local communities they operate in, allowing the ruffians to service, provide educational programs, resource based support and financially assistance to many rugby league specific community initiatives right across the region.

Our Community Coaches are effectively the most valuable asset we have in our sport and certainly have the biggest impact on participation numbers. Junior coaching is not about winning, period. It is about teaching your players the process of success, in pursuit of improvement with the aim of retaining participants so they remain connected to the sport long into the future.

Our mentoring Programs are conducted for schools, youth groups, sporting clubs and for corporate partnerships. These programs are driven by two key pillars; Health and being good people. Listeners are given current researched insight into making smarter life choices, with programs focusing on topics such as; Achieving Success, Goal Setting, Healthy Lifestyle Choices, Role Models, Community Value.

Peter Njuguna Mutahi and Paul Atem were awarded scholarship to join Form 1 at All Saints Academy in January 2023. They grew up in impoverished communities and were offered scholarships to further their education. Peter and Paul are exceptional Rugby league players, even from the recent Rugby league Festival tournament in Nakuru in December 2022 they were the top players and their team won the U-14 category.

The boys have faced challenges in their upbringing, including poverty and limited access to education. However, they were able to overcome these obstacles and got the scholarships for them to continue their studies.

Their stories serve as a testament to the power of sports in breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering individuals to continue with their education while playing rugby league.
